Blanton's Bourbon

Blanton's Bourbon holds a special place in the whiskey world as it's often credited with pioneering the concept of single-barrel bourbon. Introduced in 1984 by the Buffalo Trace Distillery (formerly the George T. Stagg Distillery) in Kentucky, Blanton's was the first bourbon to be commercially marketed as single-barrel - meaning each bottle comes from an individual aging barrel, rather than being blended from the contents of various barrels.

The bourbon is named after Colonel Albert B. Blanton, who began working at the distillery as an office boy at age 16 and spent the next 55 years there, including over three decades as the company's president. Blanton is recognized for his dedication to preserving the tradition of handcrafted bourbon, and it was under his leadership that the distillery survived and thrived through the Prohibition era and the Great Depression.

Blanton's is known for its distinctively smooth taste and rich, complex flavors. These characteristics are a result of careful curation of the barrels, which are stored in the distillery's Warehouse H - the only metal-clad warehouse at Buffalo Trace, believed to contribute to a more rapid and intense aging process due to the temperature variations inside. The iconic bottle is recognizable by its spherical shape and the horse and jockey on the stopper, which has become a collector's item among bourbon enthusiasts. Each stopper features a different pose of the horse and jockey, representing the stages of a horse race – from start to finish.
